A Singer 301 Sewing machine which has just been Fully Serviced and sews a excellent quality stitch.This model 301 sewing machine by Singer was the first of the "Slant Needle" series This is a straight stitch only machine and can also sew in the reverse. It features the same bobbin case as the forerunner model 221 Featherweight and follows the same threading procedure. The 301 model was an improvement of the 221. The featherweight has gears but has a belt driven motor, where as the 301 has built in motor and is directly geared to the shaft gears. This makes for a heavier duty machine capable of all sewing requirements, including machine quilting. This machine is a bit heavier then the featherweight, the body is made of cast aluminium. This machine is very popular with quilters since it has a handle and can very easily be carried back and forth to class. Feet for this machine are readily available.Far superior to the "famed" featherweight, the 301 is a quilters dream machine. It weighs only a few pounds more than the featherweight, has a carrying handle for easy portability and a marked throat plate for perfect seams everytime you sew!
